Shannon has been our queen since 2019 and has stayed with us after her title ended in 2020. Shannon chose to continue being our queen until August 2022 and we are so grateful and lucky to have her as part of the family 

​

Shannon is a kind hearted, hard working lady and it will be sad to no longer have her as one of our queens but we will always be a family. We literally talk all of the time, whether it is happy or sad or just completely random, having Shannon as part of the Queens feels like they all fit together and it was meant to be. It would be wonderful to see Shannon compete again, whether it is back with us, or another system, Shannon will forever have our support.

How did you get into pageants?

​

I first got into pageants in 2017/2018. A neighbour of mine won Miss Earth Northern Ireland 2017. Watching her journey to the Philippines to compete at the international stage amazed me. I loved following her journey. When it was time for her to handover her title, I decided to apply for my first pageant. I wasn’t to sure at the start as I thought I was the typical ‘pageant type’, but I seen that is was ladies of all different shapes and sizes who entered.

After my first pageant I caught the pageant bug. I love the run up to the pageants, doing appearances, meeting your fellow contestants – through social media and face to face, doing charity word and of course practicing and getting all of the outfits ready.

It was so long ago now since winning in 2019. Do you remember what you did to prepare for the 2019 UK finals?
I knew the finals in 2019 would be tough competition but I was determined to give it my all. I practice with local pageant Queens who taught me a lot. I attended and took part in as many appearances as possible. These included, being backstage manager for Miss Earth Northern Ireland 2019, took part in relay for life, held a charity doggy day with my work and so much more.  I visited a lot of local dress shops to make sure that I had the perfect gown.

 

Was this your first time competing?

Crown & Glory 2019 was my second time competing. My first time competing was Miss Earth Northern Ireland 2018 where I won ‘beauty with a cause’ charity award. This was also where I heard about Crown & Glory pageants.

What made you choose Crown & Glory Pageants?

Crown and Glory was the perfect pageant for me. It had all the aspects that I loved. One of my favourite things about Crown & Glory is that is isn’t just one winner. There is multiple winners from all different age groups.

You've had a really long reign with Covid. How have you found representing Crown & Glory pageants?

I have found representing Crown & Glory to be amazing, I have made friends for life with all of my sister Queens and both Hannah’s. Crown & Glory is an amazing pageant to represent as this pageant wants you to be the best version of yourself, they don’t want you to pretend that you are someone who you aren’t. This really shows in the Be You fashion wear for under 18’s, I cant wait to see everyone’s personalities shine through in their outfits for this round.

What moments since 2019 are you most proud of?

I am so lucky to be able to hold my title since 2019, I have a lot of amazing memories from then that I will cherish for ever. I think the moment that I am most proud of would be abseiling down the Europa Hotel to raise money for Abbie’s Army.

Do you have any advice for those looking to choose a pageant or interested in entering first time?

It might seem scary at the start but go for it, you will not regret it. I was new enough to pageants when I competed in Crown & Glory and I knew that I still had a lot to learn in pageantry and I still do, so don’t be scared in case you feel that you don’t know enough. Everyone is always learning. My best advice would be to go for it, you will love every moment of it.

If you had the opportunity would you compete in Crown & Glory Pageants again?

I would love to complete in Crown & Glory pageants again. You never know you might see me at some stage in the future.

Do you have any words of wisdom to those competing in the 2022 European finals this August?

To everyone who is competing this August, I would advise you all to enjoy every single moment of the finals and the run up. It goes by in a blink of an eye.

Prepare, prepare, prepare. Prepare as much as you can, they always say ‘fail to prepare and prepare to fail’. Make sure that all of your outfits, shoes and accessories fit perfectly, you don’t want any wardrobe incidents on the day of the final, but just in case this was to happen bring needle and thread, safety pins, etc.

If you are doing your own hair and makeup, practice it as soon as possible. You might not like the way you through you would like it or you may want to prefect something. Testing it out on yourself now will give you plenty of time for changes.

Don’t leave packing to the last minute, you will forget something. On the pageant Facebook groups and on google there are good pageant packing check lists. These check lists really helped me for my final and I will be using them again for my handover. Let me know if you would like me to send one over to you.
